Downtown Shuttle Bus Trial to be Discontinued

The City of Meriden Office of Economic Development would like to thank all of those that participated in the downtown shuttle bus trial program. While we were pleased to receive positive feedback from our downtown business owners and students who took advantage of the free shuttle bus during the trial period over the past 6 weeks, the service has been discontinued due to low ridership.

A staff report on the results of the shuttle bus trial is being compiled and will be available in May 2015. To help the City better assess how to improve mobility in the downtown, the South Central CT Council of Governments has agreed to provide (at no cost to the City) a "first mile/last mile" study that will investigate strategies to maximize the use of public transit in Meriden. This study will be completed in 2016.  The "Rideshare" GPS tracking device that was acquired for the shuttle bus program will be transferred to CT Transit/Dattco for use on the Meriden-Hartford commuter buses for a trial program.  The draft downtown parking study update is also available for review and comment.
